Los Angeles County health officials have issued a warning after a confirmed case of measles was reported in a person who traveled to various locations across the L.A. area. The individual visited several places between March 30 and April 1, potentially exposing others to the highly contagious disease.
The locations include the Sheraton Gateway Hotel Gym, Denny’s, Universal Studios, Buca Di Beppo, Cletus Chicken Shack, Lard Lad Doughnuts, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream, Jack in the Box, Santa Monica Pier, Pier Gear, and El Torito Mexican Restaurant. Health officials are urging anyone who may have been at these locations during the specified times to check their vaccination status and monitor themselves for symptoms.
Measles is a serious illness that can lead to complications, especially in vulnerable populations such as pregnant women, infants, and those with weakened immune systems. Common symptoms include high fever, cough, runny nose, red and watery eyes, and a rash that typically appears 3 to 5 days after other signs of illness.
If you believe you may have been exposed to measles, it is important to contact your healthcare provider immediately and monitor yourself for any symptoms. Stay at home and avoid large gatherings to prevent further spread of the disease. Los Angeles County health officials are working to contain the outbreak and protect the community from further exposure.
