Lyndean Lenhoff Brick, a nationally recognized expert on Medicare, passed away on Feb. 27 at the age of 64. Brick, the founder and CEO of a health care consulting firm, was known for her innovative solutions to complex health care challenges and her genuine care for her clients.
Born in Petoskey, Michigan, Brick grew up in Youngstown, Ohio, where her father ran a local theater. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and journalism from Albion College and a law degree from Ohio State University. Brick practiced law in Cook County before moving to Germany with her husband for his graduate studies.
In the early 1990s, Brick co-founded Murer Consultants, a health care consulting firm in Mokena. She played a key role in strategic planning, disaster preparation, and recovery for health care providers. Brick’s expertise in Medicare and Medicaid regulation, compliance, and reimbursement made her a sought-after adviser in the industry.
In 2017, Brick took full ownership of the firm, renaming it Advis. Under her leadership, the firm grew to about 30 employees and became known for its high-performance organization. Colleagues and clients praised Brick for her intelligence, kindness, and business acumen.
Brick’s impact extended beyond her consulting firm. In 2005, she was appointed to the Illinois Hospital Licensing Board by then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich. She later served as the board’s chair for many years before resigning in January.
Brick is survived by her husband, two daughters, a son, a sister, and her mother. Services for Brick are private. Her legacy as a dedicated health care expert and compassionate adviser will be remembered by all who knew her.
