A new House committee report has uncovered “damning discoveries” regarding the Biden administration’s alleged attempt to pressure Big Tech companies to censor information, a Fox News Digital article revealed. The report, titled “The Censorship-industrial Complex,” detailed how top White House officials coerced tech giants like Google-parent Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, and Microsoft to suppress free speech.
The report highlighted instances where the platforms censored information related to COVID-19 due to pressure from the Biden administration. Emails revealed that executives were pressured to crack down on “vaccine misinformation,” leading to changes in content moderation policies on platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Amazon.
Facebook executive Nick Clegg questioned why the company censored the lab-leak theory of COVID-19 in July 2021, stating, “We shouldn’t have done it” in response to pressure from the administration. The report also noted that the Biden White House targeted true information, satire, and other content not violating platform policies.
