Caitlin Clark continues to make waves in the WNBA, this time with a career-high performance in the Indiana Fever’s narrow 85-83 victory over the winless Washington Mystics. The No. 1 overall pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft knocked down a career-high seven 3-pointers, tying the rookie record for most threes in a game.
Clark’s stellar performance comes amidst all the extra attention she has been receiving since joining the league, with USA TODAY Sports’ Christine Brennan recently asking her about the drama surrounding her. Despite the controversy and scrutiny, Clark remains focused on her game and delivered when it mattered most on the court.
The Fever led by as many as 12 points in the first half, but the Mystics mounted a comeback to make it a close game. Clark, however, stepped up in the second half, scoring 20 of her 30 points and hitting five consecutive threes to secure the win for Indiana.
While Clark’s last free throw could have set a new career-high in points, her overall performance was enough to lead the Fever to their third win of the season. In addition to her scoring, Clark also contributed with eight rebounds, six assists, four steals, and eight turnovers.
The Mystics’ rookie Aaliyah Edwards also had an impressive showing with her second double-double in as many days. However, it was not enough to overcome Clark’s hot shooting and all-around performance.
With the win, the Fever improve to 3-9 on the season, while the Mystics drop to 0-11. Clark’s impact on the court continues to be felt, solidifying her as a rising star in the WNBA.
